Pundit lambasts Alfredo Morelos after what he spotted at Rangers – ‘I’m quicker than that’
Frank McAvennie has lambasted Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst for starting Alfredo Morelos over Antonio Colak against Napoli.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker slammed Morelos’ fitness levels and questioned Van Bronckhorst’s decision to start the 26-year-old.
The Colombia international was in the starting lineup for the 3-0 defeat to Napoli on Wednesday (26 October) ahead of in form Colak.
The Gers’ hopes of European football in the new year are under serious threat after failing to get a result against Napoli.
McAvennie couldn’t believe how unfit the striker was on Wednesday night.
“I look at Morelos and I was thinking I am quicker than that,” he told Football Insider.
“He is not fit. I do not know why they did not start Colak. Morelos has not had any game time, he has not been playing a lot.
“Last year he was scoring goals because he was playing all the time, whether he was fit or not he was scoring goals. When you are coming up against people like that, he just looked out of shape, out of form, out of touch.
“That is the biggest thing for the fans, they will be wondering why he started. He used to be their talisman, everyone loved him and let him away with things. They are not letting him away with things now.“

Morelos has made 14 appearances for the Gers across all competitions this season.
In those outings he has scored two goals and provided one assist.
