Pundit lambasts Conor Gallagher amid ‘huge’ Chelsea claim – ‘they won’t miss him’
Frank McAvennie claimed Conor Gallagher showed a “lack of experience” with his second red card for Chelsea on Saturday (27 August) – and “they won’t miss him” while he is suspended.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker suggested Gallagher will be able to learn from his mistake.
The 22-year-old was shown two yellow cards inside the first half an hour of the Blues’ game against Leicester on Saturday (27 August).

The London club went on to win the game 2-1 despite being a man short.
The midfielder was given his marching orders by referee Paul Tierney after picking up his second yellow card for a challenge on Harvey Barnes.
As quoted by the Daily Express (27 August), Thomas Tuchel said Gallagher has taken responsibility for the incident and knows it was a “huge mistake”.
The game against Leicester was Gallagher’s second start of the season.
When asked if the midfielder’s actions show a lack of experience, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Of course it does.
“We’ve seen it in the last couple of weeks, when you get booked, you can’t tackle in today’s game.
“It’s a hard one because referees are so quick to pick on you and the game’s so quick now that one misjudged tackle and you’re off.

“It shows inexperience, his manager will have a word with him. Fortunately Chelsea have enough players that they won’t really miss him.
“When players do that they hopefully learn from it. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing because you can learn from it and as long as you do that you’ll be ok. It’s a shame for him because he’s just inexperienced.“
