Pundit lauds Daniel Levy after ‘massive’ Dele Alli-Tottenham development

Daniel Levy has proved his worth to Tottenham with the club set to finally receive a fee for Dele Alli.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s potential Toffees exit.

According to the Daily Mail (19 August), Besiktas are eager to sign Alli this week and Everton are willing to sanction a deal – despite only signing the midfielder in January.

Alli came off the bench in both of Everton’s opening two Premier league games this season, playing a combined 38 minutes but failed to appear against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (20 August).

However, as per Mark Douglas (18 August), Everton will still have to pay Tottenham a significant proportion of the original fee agreed when Alli joined the club in January.

“It just shows, putting those little clauses in can pay dividends in the end,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Nowadays there are little clauses here, there and everywhere. I think Daniel Levy has shown how good he is at his job.

“It’s a massive bit of good business from Tottenham for a player they didn’t really want and wanted off the wage bill.

“It looks like they are going to get a few quid back for him. Whatever happens, Tottenham are covered by the looks of it.

“Who knows if it will be a massive fee? It probably won’t be but it’s better than nothing whatever it is.”

Tottenham, Daniel Levy

Alli has made 13 appearances for Everton.

He has failed to score.
