Pundit lauds Eddie Howe after ‘never-before-seen’ Newcastle United development – ‘incredible’

Eddie Howe has done something at Newcastle United that no other manager could.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Paraguayan’s form.

In-form winger Miguel Almiron made it six goals in six games and seven for the season as he scored Newcastle’s fourth in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday (29 October).

The winger has established himself as a key player for the Magpies, starting all 13 of their Premier League games this season.

Before the 2022-23 campaign started, Almiron had never scored more than five Premier League goals in a single season.

McManus has lauded Howe’s work after he performed the same trick with Joelinton last season.

“It’s hard work on the training ground and I am seeing Eddie Howe get a lot of praise,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“But you have to credit the player as well. He clearly wanted to work so hard to improve, I’m not even he thought he could ever be this good though.

“It’s some turnaround, just the same as Joelinton. It’s exactly the same. You have two players who, this time last season, were very poor.

“Now you have two players who could play for just about anyone on current form. I don’t see many other managers who are capable of doing that.

“I haven’t seen it before really. Players being that poor and now this good, incredible.”

Almiron joined Newcastle in January 2019 in a transfer BBC Sport claim was worth £20million.

He has scored 20 goals in 135 total appearances for the club.
