Pundit makes ‘big’ Liverpool transfer claim after Sky confession

Alan Hutton has insisted getting players back from injury will play a “big” part in the transfer plans at Liverpool moving forward.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said the Reds will “always be looking” at potential targets but need to make sure they are adding quality not just quantity.

As quoted by Sky Sports (13 January), Jurgen Klopp admitted that he does not think his side will be making any more signings in this window.

The Reds have only made one January signing, bringing in Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven but have been linked with numerous other targets.

The Merseysiders currently have six members of the first team sidelined with injury, including Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino.

When asked if Liverpool should be focusing on getting players back from injury before making new signings, Hutton told Football Insider: “That is a big part of it, getting them fit.

They know that, they have probably got one of the best medical teams around. They will be desperate to get players back but I would never say there is any team that is not looking to bring somebody in.

Everybody is on the front foot, looking to bring in reinforcements, somebody that is going to help them improve.

Liverpool

It is not about quantity, especially not for a team like Liverpool, it is about quality. Can they bring someone in who is better than what they have got and can help them improve.

As long as they can get a target like that they will always be looking.
