Pundit makes bold West Ham prediction after update on Lingard and another ‘huge’ signing
Noel Whelan has tipped West Ham for another top-six finish if Kurt Zouma and Jesse Lingard join before next week’s transfer deadline.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the pair’s arrival would make it a “very successful transfer window” for the Irons.
A West Ham source told Football Insider (26th August) the Hammers are confident of signing Lingard from Manchester United after talks on Thursday.

Meanwhile, David Moyes told football.london (28th August) Kurt Zouma is undergoing a medical after Chelsea accepted a bid.
The Irons have already signed Craig Dawson permanently and Alphonse Areola on loan.
Whelan suggested Zouma and Lingard’s signings would keep the east Londoners in contention for a top-six finish.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Look, if Jesse Lingard does return to West Ham, I think that’s been a very successful transfer window for them.
“They’ve kept the whole squad from last season that got them there. Also added additions to the squad that’s already competitive.
“We’ve seen that from the start of the Premier League that they’ve had this year as well.
“When you look at the recruitment, you’ve got to say it’s a hugely successful transfer window if they can get Lingard and Zouma through the door.
“They would be very, very competitive this year. You wouldn’t put it past them to stay in that top six at the end of the season.”

West Ham currently top the Premier League table after beating Newcastle United and Leicester City.
They were drawn against Dinamo Zagreb, Genk and Rapid Vienna in Friday’s Europa League group stage draw.
