Pundit makes Chelsea new manager claim as contact made with Mauricio Pochettino
Frank McAvennie has backed Graham Potter to turn things around at Chelsea and keep his job despite calls for him to be sacked.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker believes that Potter needs to be given more time to build his own squad at Stamford Bridge.
Potter joined the Blues back in September following the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, and new owner Todd Boehly handed the Englishman a £323million budget for the January window to sign new players.

Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix were three of eight new signings to arrive at Stamford Bridge over the winter.
But Potter has struggled to get the best out of his Chelsea squad since, with the Blues now winless in six matches after their 2-0 loss to Tottenham last week.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (1 March) that Chelsea have made informal contact with Mauricio Pochettino as they plot a potential managerial change.
McAvennie suggests Chelsea should stick with Potter and allow him to “clear out” the squad in the summer.
“I think Todd Boehly will give Graham Potter a chance to work with his own players,” McAvennie told Football Insider.
“None of them are his players and it’d be strange to sack him for someone else’s players.
“They need a clear-out in the summer, but I think Potter can turn it around at Chelsea.
“Most other clubs would’ve sacked him by now.

“But Boehly needs to give him a couple of windows, not only to build his own squad but to offload players that don’t want to be there.
“There are too many players at Chelsea that aren’t concerned about not playing.“
