Pundit makes ‘crazy’ Caicedo claim after Chelsea developmentt

Moises Caicedo will be a decisive factor for Chelsea securing Champions League qualification this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton has claimed that the Blues now have a better chance of finishing in the top four.

They signed Caicedo from Brighton for £115million after they agreed to improve on Liverpool’s £111million offer that had been accepted two days earlier.

Caicedo informed Liverpool on the Friday before the season began that he wanted to join Chelsea, which opened the door again for the London club to renegotiate.

After signing for the Blues, Hutton believes that Caicedo could be the difference between Chelsea making or missing out on the top four.

“Well, there’s no doubt he’s an excellent player,” he told Football Insider.

“He showed he’s worth, and I mean, some of the fees nowadays I think it’s just crazy.

“£115million, time will tell if he is worth it or not, but I think he comes in and plays.

“I generally don’t think you spend that kind of money for somebody to sit out.

“I think Caicedo makes them stronger, and to be honest, I think he comes in and does that job, they’re going to be top four this season.

“I think there’s so many teams are strengthened and are looking strong at this moment in time, so it will be difficult.

“But if Mauricio Pochettino gets the right blend with the talent that he’s got, then of course they can finish in the top four for sure.”
