Pundit makes ‘huge’ Hazard claim as West Ham told £42m bid will seal deal
Noel Whelan has insisted a sensational West Ham swoop for Eden Hazard could “rock the foundations” at the Premier League high-flyers.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed a “very exciting” move for the 30-year-old could end up being detrimental to the Hammers.
According to El Nacional on Tuesday of last week (7 December), West Ham have approached Real Madrid with a bid of £21million for former Chelsea star Hazard.

The report claims Los Blancos rejected the “offensive” approach and instead value the winger at around £42million.
Whelan suggested West Ham’s recent success has come after “turning a corner” in the transfer market under David Moyes.
“It’s not really worked out for him since leaving Chelsea – it’s been a really mixed spell for him at Real Madrid,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“There’s no doubt that he still has the quality, and he would be a really big-name signing for them. However, I think West Ham have turned a real corner because they haven’t gone for those sorts of signings.
“They’ve built an honest, hard-working group of players, and that’s what makes a successful side. As much as it is very exciting, and it’s a huge name – you don’t want to rock the foundations of the success they’ve built.
“I would be worried that David Moyes will feel that he has to play him, even if he’s not playing particularly well.
“You want to see him back in the Premier League, but I just feel it could end up being detrimental to West Ham.”

West Ham are flying high atop the Premier League this term, sitting fourth in the table.
Hazard has managed just one assist across 12 appearances this term.
