Pundit makes ‘huge’ Thiago and Fabinho claim as Liverpool footage emerges today

Liverpool are in line for a “huge bonus” against Real Madrid with Thiago included in the squad for Saturday’s Champions League final, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 31-year-old “could be the difference” in Paris with his incisive passing ability.

In footage captured by Sky Sports News on Friday (25 March), relayed by the Football Daily Twitter page, both Fabinho and Thiago are part of Liverpool’s squad travelling to Paris after their injury worries.

Speaking on Wednesday (25 May), Jurgen Klopp confirmed there is a “good chance” Thiago could feature.

The Spain international suffered an Achilles problem against Wolves.

Whelan admitted having the midfielder available would be “massive” for the Reds.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “When you’ve got the experience of Thiago and Fabinho, they’re two midfield players who just dominate other midfielders.

“I think that is where it will be won and lost. You’ve got to command that midfield area, you’ve got to take control as quickly as possible. Thiago and Fabinho have experience in abundance but there’s a calmness about their play as well.

“That’s something I think the team are going to need on a big night like Saturday. If Fabinho’s in the side, that’s a huge bonus for Liverpool. I think he could be the difference because I think when he plays, he brings something a little bit different.

“He’s got that passing skill, he breaks the lines with passes. That’s going to be massively important for the front three of Liverpool. Out of all the midfield players, he’s the one for me that holds the key to those passes.”
