Pundit makes ‘massive’ Chelsea claim after Enzo Fernandez offer update

Alan Hutton has urged Chelsea against signing Enzo Fernandez.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said the Blues will struggle to keep players happy if they continue adding to the squad.

According to football.london (23 January), Graham Potter’s side are expected to approach Benfica with another proposal for the 22-year-old before the window closes.

The London club made the Argentinian a priority target before the January window and have held several rounds of talks over a deal but the Portuguese side continue to hold firm at their £105million valuation.

As quoted by the same report, head coach Roger Schmidt said that if Fernandez “wants to leave and someone pays the [release] clause” they would be willing to let him leave.

Chelsea have already signed Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke this month.

When asked if the Blues still need Fernandez, Hutton told Football Insider:Probably not.

We know they had a massive injury list, their top stars for their team were out. For them to come back, the signings that they have already made, the problem is how do you keep them all happy?

Chelsea

People are going to have to leave. If you are adding another £100million-plus player to that, it is crazy.

It is a lot of money being spent but a lot of pressure comes with that on Graham Potter to pick the right formation, the right team and get results. It is a difficult job.
