Pundit makes ‘next level’ Dan James prediction that will delight Leeds fans
Alan Hutton has tipped Dan James to reach the “next level” at Leeds United after joining from Manchester United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland star suggested playing under Marcelo Bielsa would get the best out of the 23-year-old.
Leeds confirmed they had sealed James’ capture on Tuesday (31st August).
The move comes two-and-a-half years after a move from Swansea to Leeds collapsed at the eleventh hour.
Hutton suggested Leeds would be able to get the best out of James after a lack of game time at Old Trafford.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You go back a couple of years and he was taking pictures with the strip and everything. It was more or less done.
“Bielsa’s liked him since then, I would imagine he’s kept up with his progress. I think did well when he went to Manchester United.
“The problem was he hit the ground running and did really well at a time man United weren’t the team we all thought they were.
“Over recent seasons they have brought in a lot of quality. That’s not to say Dan James isn’t a good player. He’s just had a lot of competition there.
“I think a move to Leeds is where he can get to the next level. Working under a manager like Bielsa and his demands at the highest of levels daily is only going to improve him.

“Also playing week in, week out, because I think there’s an opportunity there for him to do that. I think it’s a great move.
“I think Leeds fans will be really happy with that after a couple of years gone by that they haven’t been able to get him.”
