Pundit makes ‘perfect’ Ndombele exit claim at Tottenham as advanced talks reported

Noel Whelan has claimed getting Tanguy Ndombele’s wages off the wage bill this month would be the “perfect scenario” for Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted Spurs need the 25-year-old off the books and out the dressing room.

As reported by the Telegraph on Thursday (27 January), Tottenham are in advanced talks over a loan deal that would see Ndombele join PSG for the rest of the season.

Spurs are reportedly demanding Ndombele’s wages are covered, while there are negotiations over an option or obligation to buy.

Whelan suggested getting the Frenchman off the books was the Lilywhites’ “main priority”.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think this was their main priority, to be quite honest with you. Not so much bringing players in but getting that player out.

“We know what attention he’s been bringing to the club in a negative way. I think when you’ve got that on your shoulders, I think the best thing to do is try and get that player out.

“Get the mind firmly on the football and the players you are going to be using and you do want in your squad, rather than the players that have been raising a bit more of a fuss and not putting in what you need.

“It can be toxic in the change room. It can’t be nice when you’ve got players like this.

“To take all that pressure away from the situation, this is the perfect scenario that they could wish for.”

Ndombele has played 16 times for Tottenham this season.

However, he has started just three times under Antonio Conte.
