Pundit: Morelos has problem with Gerrard after what I’ve spotted at Rangers
Paul Robinson has lauded Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst for his “excellent” man management of Alfredo Morelos.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and England goalkeeper revealed he’s been “really impressed” by the seamless change of manager at Ibrox.
Morelos has contributed four goals and two assists in seven league games since Van Bronckhorst’s appointment.
He contributed the same amount of goal contributions in 11 fixtures under previous manager Steven Gerrard.
As quoted by the Daily Record (16 December), Van Bronckhorst suggested he has told Morelos to position himself in the opposition’s box more often.
Robinson believes Morelos and Gerrard did not always see eye to eye.
“There was obviously some kind of friction in that relationship,” he told Football Insider.
“The new manager has come in and he will have a different approach to how he handles players. You do not know what is happening on the training ground but something looks to have changed.
“Morelos has had a great start under the new manager.
“I have got to say I’ve been very impressed with Van Bronckhorst. He has made very few changes. He’s just made subtle changes.

“The team is immediately playing for him. Everyone thought Gerrard would leave a big hole but in fact he hasn’t. Van Bronckhorst has come in and got everybody on side.
“His man-management looks to be excellent. The team is playing really well.”
