Pundit names 50-year-old as ‘only man’ for Everton after update on Pereira talks
Paul Robinson has urged Everton to appoint Duncan Ferguson as their new permanent manager.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League goalkeeper insisted the 50-year-old is the only man who can “transform Everton’s fortunes.”
Ferguson has been placed on caretaker duty while the club search for Rafael Benitez’s permanent successor.

In a statement to fans (21 January), Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri told fans the club are “keen to make an appointment as quickly as possible.”
According to Fabrizio Romano, writing in the Guardian (24 January), Vitor Pereira is the latest to hold talks over the vacant post.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Ferguson was deserving of a chance, Robinson said: “Just give him the job.
“What other options have they really got?
“They have had Carlo Ancelotti, Ronald Koeman and Rafael Benitez and it has not worked. The majority of people would describe them as world-class managers. You only have to look at how well Ancelotti is doing at Real Madrid.
“Everton have regressed over the past five years. They have spent £500million and gone backwards.

“They have gone away from what they always used to be. If you work hard for the badge on the front of the shirt, the fans will remember the name on the back. That’s Everton. They haven’t had that in a long time. Too many players have been recruited on high wages who are not good enough.
“Duncan deserves his opportunity. Nobody can come in and transform Everton’s fortunes other than him. He’s the only man for the job. Let him have a shot. I’d give him the job permanently now.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Everton have taken a FFP ‘hit’ after £49m Benitez report.
