Pundit: Newcastle must fix Ryan Fraser problem after update – ‘there’s something wrong with him’

Newcastle United star Ryan Fraser has “something wrong with him” after an update on his fitness.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest blow to the winger.

On Friday (22 April), Eddie Howe revealed Fraser, 29,8 is facing a “race against time” to get fit again before the end of the season.

The winger has not featured since he was forced off in the Magpies’ 1-0 win over Wolves earlier this month (8 April).

McAvennie is worried about Fraser after his multiple injury issues in the past.

“Ryan Fraser is a funny one, there was a fury when he left Bournemouth because he refused to play,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Then you have the issues with Scotland when he lied about his injury but trained for Newcastle.

“You can’t be doing that, that’s terrible as a professional. He does have these injury issues.

“The one thing is that he won’t be playing for Scotland anytime soon so he can just focus on Newcastle.

“That means he’s not playing too much football but he’s still getting injured.

“There is something wrong with him and Newcastle need to fix it before next season starts.”

Fraser has made 28 appearances for Newcastle this season, scoring twice and registering three assists.

All but one of those goal contributions came under Howe after Fraser struggled to make an impact under Steve Bruce.
