Pundit ‘not shocked’ as details emerge on third Everton bid for Rangers star Patterson
Alan Hutton has claimed Rangers starlet Nathan Patterson “ticks all the boxes” as a potential replacement for Seamus Coleman at Everton.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he was not surprised the Toffees launched a late move to prise the 19-year-old right-back from Ibrox.
As reported by the Daily Mail (30th August), Everton had an £8million bid rejected by the Glasgow giants after initially offering £5million.

Everton were reportedly ready to table a third bid before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
However, Patterson was forced into self-isolation, scuppering any chance of in-person negotiations or a medical taking place.
Hutton admitted Everton would be looking for a long-term replacement for 32-year-old Coleman.
He suggested Patterson could fill the void.
Hutton told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge: “He’s a modern full-back. That’s what teams are looking for.
“They’re looking for somebody with energy to get up and down the pitch, who can defend well, good at deliveries. It’s things like that and he ticks all the boxes.
“Seamus Coleman isn’t getting any younger. He’s been a great servant for Everton but they’ll be looking to the future as well.
“It doesn’t surprise me that they’re looking at Patterson. We have seen him develop so quickly in a short space of time.
“They will be looking to make him a better footballer. Bring him down south, experience that side of it, work on him and make him even better.
“I’m not shocked there are teams interested. He’s only 19-years-of-age. In my opinion, he’s only going to get better.”

Coleman has played every minute of Everton’s three Premier League games so far this season.
Right-back Jonjoe Kenny also remained at Goodison past the transfer deadline.
