Pundit on Heung-Min Son being axed by Tottenham for Man City showdown
Heung-Min Son will start for Tottenham against Man City on Saturday (10 September).
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the South Korean’s form.
Son, 30, is yet to score in seven games this season after winning the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Mohamed Salah with 23 goals in the 2021-22 campaign.
The attacker blanked again on Wednesday night as his side beat Marseille 2-0 in the Champions League courtesy of a Richarlison brace.
Son has started all of Spurs’ games this season despite the form of Richarlison, who has impressed since his summer move from Everton.
Despite his goal drought, Kenny claims Son should continue to start.
“You have to keep Son in that side, I’m sure the goals will come,” Kenny told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“This is a guy who won the golden boot last season, he hasn’t just lost it overnight. The thing is that Spurs actually have options this season.
“Richarlison, Kulusevski, they will be pushing to start as long as Son isn’t scoring. But I think Conte knows how good he is and that is why he will stay in.
“He is a big game player and I know they have Man City at the weekend so it wouldn’t surprise me if he played in that one.”

Tottenham and Man City are both unbeaten in this season’s Premier League.
They also have two of the league’s in-form strikers as Erling Haaland has 10 goals and Harry Kane has five.
