Pundit on Romeo Lavia re-signing for Man City after source’s reveal

Alan Hutton has suggested Romeo Lavia won’t want to return to Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that the “biggest factor” for Lavia when deciding his future will be game time.

The 19-year-old joined Southampton from City’s under-21 side in the summer on a five year contract.

On 10 March, sources told this site that Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United are all interested in the midfielder who is set to be in “huge demand” this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side have an advantage on their Premier League rivals as they have the option to buy back the midfielder from the Saints

Lavia is said to be keen to stay in the English top flight as the threat of relegation looms over Southampton.

But when asked if the youngster would be willing to return to the Etihad where his game time may be limited, Hutton told Football Insider:That is the biggest factor in it all.

He has obviously left to go to Southampton to play football, so why would you want to then go back to not play? You are back at square one.

Everybody knows he is an outstanding young talent so, from what I know, you want to go somewhere you are going to kick on to the next level.

To do that, you have to play week in week out so that would be the main factor in choosing a team I would’ve thought.
