Pundit predicts Liverpool to seal big-money deal by 1 January after Salah latest

Noel Whelan has claimed Liverpool should hand Mohamed Salah “whatever he wants” as contract talks between the parties continue.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 29-year-old is the Merseyside club’s “best player” as well as a “marketing tool” for the Reds.

As reported by the Telegraph yesterday (October 18th), Salah is demanding a weekly wage of around £400,000 in order to remain a Liverpool player.

Liverpool

Football Insider exclusively revealed last week that the Merseyside club were preparing an offer worth around £350,000-per-week – which would make the Egyptian the club’s top earner.

A Liverpool source told this site that the club want to reach an agreement with Salah before the January transfer window opens.

Whelan insisted the Anfield side must cave to the former Roma winger’s demands.

“They’ve got to give him whatever he wants,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“We saw another wonder goal the other day, surrounded by players but he just finds that half a yard inside the box and a quality finish, wow.

“Nobody wants to lose their best player, he’s the one they look for when they’re going forward – he’s always popping up when they need him.

“He’s a marketing tool for Liverpool as well, let’s not forget. The number of shirts he sells, it’s the same as having a Cristiano Ronaldo or a Lionel Messi.

“You give him whatever he wants, get him signed up by January – no one will want to see him leave, ever.”

Liverpool

Salah has become a household name since his move to Liverpool in 2017, winning both the Champions League and Premier League with the club.

He has scored 135 goals in 213 games during his time on Merseyside.
