Pundit issues ‘exceptional’ Forshaw claim after latest Leeds reveal

Adam Forshaw has gone from “strength to strength” after a string of “sublime” performances in the Leeds United midfield, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 30-year-old has been “exceptional” since returning from injury.

Forshaw has started each of the last four Leeds United league games since returning from an 800-day injury layoff against Southampton in October.

The midfielder’s latest outing came as the Whites recorded a vital 1-0 home win against Crystal Palace yesterday.

As per Leeds United stat experts LUFCDATA (30 November), Forshaw won four tackles, seven duels and recorded seven ball recoveries during the victory.

The Englishman could well be fighting for his Elland Road future, with his Whites contract expiring at the end of this season.

Whelan praised the “mental strength” the 30-year-old has shown to return to the fold under Marcelo Bielsa.

“He has been exceptional since returning from injury,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“The mental strength he has had to return to the side – but not just that, some of the performances he has put in have been sublime.

“He’s been ever-present since Bielsa decided to put him back in, and he’s just going from strength to strength. He’s really looking like himself again.

“He gives us that confidence, calmness, that reassurance and bravery. He really takes a lot of pressure off the shoulders of Kalvin Phillips and gives us a lot more solidity in that midfield area.”

The midfielder joined Leeds United from Middlesbrough for a reported fee of £2million in 2018.

Forshaw has now featured in nine games across all competitions, including four starts in the Premier League.
