Pundit seriously impressed by Klopp’s Spanish plan after Liverpool source’s reveal
Frank McAvennie has suggested a surprise trip to Spain might be “the best thing” for Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Jurgen Klopp will have used the trip as a bonding session for his players.
On Monday (8 May), Football Insider revealed that the Reds returned from a surprise trip to Spain on Tuesday after a three-day break from training before their final games of the season.
It is believed the players didn’t take part in any training sessions during their time in Barcelona and were focused on resting up after a busy period.
The Merseysiders face struggling Leicester City at the weekend where they look to continue their six game winning streak and push for top four.
McAvennie insisted the trip will have been beneficial for the players.
“It is a bonding session if you like and sometimes you need that,” he told Football Insider.
“We used to do it all the time and we were very close. If it works with Liverpool it might be the best thing.

“They have been hot and cold and maybe Klopp wants to get them away from the media and get them talking to each other. I do not think it is a bad idea.
“They have got some good players and they all need to get working together again, they have not been doing that so this might be the best thing.“
