Pundit shares ‘big’ Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain prediction after what he’s seen from Liverpool

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be about to revive his Liverpool career after returning to the starting XI.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s future.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 29, started on the left-hand side in Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Villa Park on Boxing Day and against Leicester on 30 December.

Speaking to club media post-match (27 December), the Englishman said the position was “new and slightly different” to what he is used to.

His contract at Anfield ends next June and Football Insider understands the latest on his Liverpool future is he will leave on a free when his deal expires.

McManus claims all options are on the table for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

“He’s been forced to play there, basically, because of the injuries,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“He would play anywhere you wanted him to though. I get the impression that he is desperate to play. He wasn’t bad either, against Villa.

“I watched the full game and I thought he was bright enough considering he doesn’t usually play there. Maybe we will see a lot more of him now.

“He’s needed a big chance to show what he can do and now he’s got it. Why can’t he play well for the rest of the season and earn a new deal?

“It’s up to him but he can do what he wants. It’s all on him.

We know he is quality on his day so let’s see what happens.”
