Pundit shares ‘incredible’ Diogo Jota claim as ‘amazing’ Liverpool prediction made

Diogo Jota has moved ahead of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the pecking order at Liverpool.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “incredible” Portugal star.

Jota prodded home the winner at close range during the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s (20 March) FA Cup quarter-final.

This was the 25-year-old’s 19th goal of the season in 39 total appearances.

Roberto Firmino has scored nine goals this season and Kenny insists Jota is comfortably in front of his teammate in Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order.

“Jota, he’s the man, what more can you say?” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think he’s pretty much the main man at Liverpool, other than Mo Salah.

“Firmino and Mane are still very good players but I don’t think they make it into Liverpool’s strongest team.

“Jota has been incredible this season and if Liverpool, are going to win all of these trophies, he’s going to be there at the front.

“That would be amazing and you would think they will win at least a couple of the cups they are going after.

“He must be such a nightmare to play against and he causes problems against whoever he plays.

“He’s doing what Salah was doing at the start of the season, everything he touches turns into a goal.

“If Salah is to leave at any point, I think Jota becomes the main man there.”

Liverpool

Jota has scored 32 goals for Liverpool since he joined the club from Wolves in the summer of 2020.

His Anfield career was slightly hampered after he missed three months of action at the start of 2021 with a knee injury.
