Pundit shares ‘really exciting’ Alexander Isak claim amid Newcastle United latest

Newcastle United’s progress without injured star Alexander Isak is “really exciting”.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Newcastle United have been without Isak for their last three Premier League games after he picked up a muscle injury while on international duty.

As per BBC Sport (18 October), the 23-year-old has been ruled out until after the Qatar World Cup in what is another injury blow to Eddie Howe with Allan Saint-Maximin also suffering a setback in his recovery.

Newcastle face some tricky games before the World Cup, including a visit to Tottenham (23 October) and a home clash against Chelsea (12 November).

However, Wenham claims Newcastle’s success without their star men is a reason to be positive.

“So that’s Isak out long-term as well?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“For Newcastle, it is such a shame, they have barely seen him since he came in and when he has played he has looked excellent.

“Saint-Maximin is out as well, I mean, it’s good news for Tottenham. But we have seen Newcastle go to Old Trafford and Anfield and prove to be frustrating.

“Eddie Howe has managed to get Newcastle up to sixth in the league without these players and instead you have Jacob Murphy starting games.

“So all is not lost for them, you just wonder where they will be when he comes back, that’s a really exciting thought.”

Isak scored twice in three games for the Magpies before getting injured.

He was signed to aid the injury-prone Callum Wilson, who has scored three times this season.
