Pundit shares ‘unbelievable’ Jack Grealish claim amid Man City fear – ‘…gone to Liverpool’
Noel Whelan has insisted “everyone’s droppable” at Man City as news of Jack Grealish’s discontentment with his bit-part role emerges.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 27-year-old “should have joined Liverpool or Arsenal” if he wanted to play every week.
Sources told this site on Friday (18 November) that Grealish is struggling to come to terms with his second-string status at Man City and fears Pep Guardiola is willing to sell him next year.
The England star now fears Guardiola does not fully rate or trust him, and would happily dispense with him to bring in another superstar signing.
The £100million man has started just six of the Citizens’ 14 Premier League games this season.
Grealish has netted just one goal in the 2022-23 campaign – after notching six goals and four assists in his first term at the Etihad Stadium.
Whelan suggested the midfielder should have known what he was “signing up for” when he went to City.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “The problem is that everyone’s droppable at Man City.
“That’s just down to the squad depth and the quality they have.
“If he wanted to play every week, he should have gone to Liverpool or Arsenal.
“But you know what you’re signing up for when you join City.
“You aren’t going to get the game time you got when you were the number one player at Aston Villa.
“Everyone at Man City has got to play unbelievably well just to ensure their place in the team next week.

“At the moment he’s doing well. It’s probably the best we’ve seen from him at the club, but you’re at Man City.
“This is a double-hard club to break through at. Everyone is droppable, so he needs to just keep working hard.”
