Pundit ‘shocked’ Mason Mount could join Bundesliga club after source’s Chelsea reveal
Frank McAvennie has suggested Mason Mount could join Bayern Munich if he quits Chelsea in the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said there will be no shortage of clubs looking for Mount’s services.
The 24-year-old is out of contract in 2024 amid extensive talks over an extension to his Stamford Bridge agreement.
But on 18 March, Football Insider revealed that the midfielder has been told he is free to find a new club in the summer after talks collapsed.
The England international has been unsatisfied with the latest contract offer from the Blues which would see him earn £180,000-per-week.
According to the Liverpool Echo (27 March), Liverpool have a serious interest in signing Mount this summer as they look to revamp their ageing squad.
McAvennie said Anfield would be a good fit for Mount but insisted other clubs will be after his services.
“They are selling Mason Mount, I cannot believe that,” he told Football Insider.
“That shocked me, something must have happened, maybe they have got somebody else coming in in that position.
“It must be a club decision that will not be the manager because that is his kind of player. Unless there is something not right.

“I can’t see him causing any trouble, he does not seem like that kind of player. But he will not have any shortage of clubs.
“He might go to Bayern Munich if [Thomas] Tuchel is there. He would love it over there. [Jude] Bellingham will be telling him how good the league is so it might be better for him to get away.“
