Pundit slams Harry Maguire amid ‘big’ Man United claim – ‘he has to go’
Frank McAvennie has insisted Harry Maguire has “got to” leave Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker claimed Maguire has never “looked good” or “felt comfortable” in a Man United shirt.
On 9 January, Football Insider revealed that the 29-year-old is staying at Old Trafford this month after they rejected interest from Aston Villa.
The centre-back had been spotted at a restaurant near Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground last weekend and speculation grew that he would be joining the Midlands club.
Unai Emery’s side did enquire about Maguire‘s availability but United insisted he would be staying in Manchester this month.
The centre-back’s contract runs until 2025 and the Red Devils have the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.
But McAvennie has claimed Maguire needs to leave as soon as possible.
“Maguire has got to go,” he told Football Insider.
“I do not think he has ever looked good in a Man United jersey. I do not think he has ever felt comfortable in a Man United jersey, it might be too big for him.
“He is a decent player so I think he will go somewhere else but I think he has got to leave.“

Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag.
The defender has also been troubled by injuries in recent months and has made just seven league appearances under the Dutchman this season.
In other news, a pundit has told Man United to complete ‘brilliant’ Memphis Depay signing as agreement reached.
