Pundit slams Liverpool as a ‘joke’ and ‘can’t believe’ what they’re doing amid announcement today
Frank McAvennie has fired a stern warning to Liverpool and Man United’s owners after an update on last year’s failed European Super League.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, can’t believe reports about the league’s possible comeback.
The Telegraph reported today (3 March) Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona, are still backing the Super League with Juve chief Andrea Agnelli set to make an announcement later today.

However, it was also reported Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Machester City have no intention of returning to the league.
McAvennie insists Liverpool and Man United’s American owners will want to eventually join any form of Super League.
“You’re joking? I can’t believe they are trying to do that,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“That’s ridiculous, the fans won’t have it, that’s what happened last time. Liverpool were battered last time.
“Their fans were the worst, so were Man United’s. I remember they ended up on the pitch.
“It’s one of those, you have to read the mood of the crowd. Read the room, honestly.
“So there is meant to be an announcement while the world is watching a war in Europe?
“Are they trying to just announce it and no one will notice? It will get shot down again.”

The so-called ‘big six’ Premier League clubs announced their desire to join the short-lived Super League in April 2021.
However, it only took a few days of fan pressure to force all English clubs to announce their intention to withdraw from the competition.
In other news, Liverpool have been hailed after agreeing terms on a landmark deal.
