Pundit slams Man United after ‘ridiculous’ Solskjaer comments on Sky

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has never been the right man for Man United, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 48-year-old “is not world-class” and is “not getting the best out of the players”.

The Red Devils were hammered 5-0 by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Speaking on his future after the loss, Solskjaer told Sky Sports he would not give up as his side are “too close” to where they need to be.

Robinson claimed “it’s ridiculous” for Solskjaer to suggest his team are close after such a poor result.

“It’s ridiculous to say they’re close after that performance,” he told Football Insider.

“I don’t think he’s ever been the right man for the job. He was appointed by chance more than anything else.

“There is no comparison between him and other world-class managers. He is not world class. He is clearly not getting the best out of the players.

“Mo Salah was the first player to score a hat-trick at Old Trafford since the old Ronaldo. Manchester United don’t concede five goals, let alone concede five goals at home. That cannot happen.

“There is something fundamentally wrong. They’re nowhere near where they need to be.

“The players go on the field but the buck stops with the manager. It is his responsibility at the end of the day.”
