Pundit speculates David Moyes replacement at West Ham after source’s update – ‘he worked miracles’

West Ham must stick with David Moyes after missing the “perfect” opportunity to sack him.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Scot’s future.

Moyes, 59, has been under growing pressure either side of the World Cup and his team has taken just one point from a possible nine since their Premier League campaign resumed.

Sources told Football Insider on 6 January that the recent death of West Ham co-chairman has weakened Moyes’ position as Gold is believed to have been a strong advocate of the former Everton boss behind the scenes and would frequently offer him private support and encouragement.

McManus claims the Hammers should stick with Moyes as there are no out-of-work managers who could do a better job.

“David is the best man for that job,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“It’s going to be a bad season for them, we know that. But you have to look around, if he goes then who comes in?

“Who is out there who West Ham could get, who would be a big improvement on Moyes? I can’t think of anyone.

“He’s worked miracles at that club, there is no one better suited to getting them back up the table. Also, this is a really bad time to sack a manager.

“The club needs to be fully focused on bringing the right players in now the window is open. Everyone needs to be on the same page.

“You can’t be wasting time replacing a manager, it would be pointless.

The World Cup break was the perfect time to sack someone and they missed that window.”
