Pundit suggest Raheem Sterling set for Chelsea exit after ‘superstar’ signing arrives
Alan Hutton has claimed Raheem Sterling could be axed by Chelsea and faces a potential exit from the club following their latest “superstar” signing.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back insisted Sterling will have to “up his game” after the arrival of Mykhailo Mudryk.
On 15 January, the Blues confirmed the signing of the 22-year-old from Shakhtar Donetsk on an eight-and-a-half year deal, higjacking Arsenal’s move for the winger.
On 15 January, sources told this site that the Blues are willing to listen to offers for Sterling, 28, after their ambush of the Ukraine international.
The ex-Man City winger has not featured for Graham Potter’s side since he suffered a hamstring injury against his former club.
On 26 January, the club confirmed that the England international has stepped up his recovery and could return to the side in the coming weeks.
When asked if players like Sterling will be worried about Mudryk’s arrival, Hutton told Football Insider: “I always knew he was a good player, technically very good, his pace is electric and he plays without fear.
“I think you can see that. Everybody was in awe of what he was able to do after just signing for the club. I think he will be a standout player moving forward.

“So there will be a few players within that team, the likes of Raheem Sterling. People are going to have to up their game it is as simple as that.
“If you play at a high level there is always going to be superstars there so it is up to the player to get themselves in the team.“
