Pundit suggests Bernardo Silva has rejected Man City offer to sign for new club

Bernardo Silva will snub a new Man City deal to sign for Barcelona.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.

On Saturday (26 November), sources told this site that City have offered the 28-year-old a new contract that is worth more than £40million in total.

The Sky Blues are hoping to tie down the Portugal international after he was linked with Barcelona in the summer and subsequent reports have suggested the Spanish giants could try again in January.

Silva is seen as an integral part of Guardiola’s team and part of his long-term vision for the club.

However, McManus claims Silva would have already signed a new deal if he had any intention of staying at City.

“He is a terrific player and has been a fantastic signing for Man City,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“Obviously, he is 28 years old now. He might see himself only having one more big move left in him. Maybe he wants to go and play in a warmer climate, no disrespect to Manchester.

“If he has the opportunity to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona then he will take it. With him being Portuguese as well it would take him closer to home.

“If he has not signed a new deal by now then don’t think he is going to sign one. I think we will see him join a foreign club.

“I don’t know how Barcelona are affording to sign all of these players when they are millions in debt but they seem to find a way to pull off these huge deals.

“That seems to be the link at the moment.”
