Pundit suggests Ilan Meslier to ‘leave for big money’ after Leeds United update

Alan Hutton has claimed Leeds United could keep Ilan Meslier and sign Dominik Livakovic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Leeds need someone to push Meslier for the number one spot.

According to French outlet Media Foot (12 December), the Whites are interested in the Livakovic, 27, whose contract expires in 2024.

The report claims that it will cost interested parties around £9million to take the shot stopper away from Dinamo Zagreb.

The Croatia international impressed at the World Cup, helping his side to a third place finish in Qatar that included a defeat over tournament favourites Brazil.

Meslier, the current Leeds number one is contracted at Elland Road until 2026 but there has been growing speculation around his future at the Yorkshire club.

According to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge, speaking to Football Fancast (26 November), Tottenham are looking at the Whites shot stopper as a successor for Hugo Lloris, 36.

When asked if Leeds will need to offload Meslier to facilitate signing Livakovic, Hutton told Football Insider:I don’t think so.

I think if they could bring in a keeper of that quality to push Meslier would be ideal.

Knowing that if he does leave for big money, then it is a good deal all round probably.
