Pundit suggests Kalvin Phillips is quitting Man City this summer after source’s reveal
Alan Hutton has suggested Kalvin Phillips could quit Man City next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Phillips could look for a way out of the Etihad if his game time doesn’t increase.
On 1 January, sources told this site that West Ham have reignited their interest in the 27-year-old.
The Hammers were linked with a £50million move for the midfielder last January when he was still at Leeds United.
West Ham have now been alerted by Pep Guardiola going public to condemn Phillips for being “overweight” and not in the right condition to train after he returned from the World Cup.
David Moyes’ side are preparing to lose Declan Rice in the summer window and Phillips is seen as a capable replacement.
City paid £42million plus £3million add-ons for the England international in the summer and his contract runs until 2028.
He has played just five minutes of Premier League football since then and seems to be falling further down the pecking order.
Hutton suggested Phillip’s time at City is not up just yet.
“I think he will want to stay within himself.
“Man City is a big club, you are going to go for all the trophies. It has not quite worked out for him through injury. The overweight thing did not help him either, especially when the fans are singing it at him.

“It is not ideal but when he signed I did not think he was going to play week in week out. I think he maybe knew that. Probably in the next season or so if he is still not playing I think he will maybe look to get out.
“West Ham, even though they are struggling at this moment in time, are a good club.“
