Pundit suggests Leeds to buy Tottenham star Joe Rodon permanently after source’s reveal – ‘it will be huge’

Joe Rodon will want to make a permanent move to Leeds United in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed the Welshman was happy at Elland Road and would want to stay due to his crucial role in the squad.

As revealed by Football Insider (18 January), the club are working on signing the 26-year-old from Tottenham in the summer, as a move this month would be too expensive.

Since moving to the Yorkshire giants in the summer on loan from Spurs, Rodon has been instrumental in the Whites’ success having made 27 appearances in the Championship.

Hutton claimed that Daniel Farke’s side could struggle to finance a deal if they don’t achieve promotion this season, but was adamant that Rodon himself would prefer to stay.

“I think he will stay if Leeds don’t get promoted, and it will be huge if he did,” he told Football Insider.

“From Rodon’s point of view, he’s playing every week at a big club.

“Of course, he will want to play in the Premier League and he has that experience.

“The money will be a factor and it would be a lot easier if they do get promoted.

“But even if they don’t go up, they’ll still be building for the future.

“It would be a good fit for him and ultimately you want to be happy, which he is at Leeds United.”
