Pundit suggests Liverpool ‘breaking the bank’ to keep Salah after extraordinary £117m update
Liverpool “simply have to break the bank” to tie Mohamed Salah down to a new contract as he is “impossible” to replace, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Premier League goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 29-year-old is “in the driving seat” regarding negotiations given he is “the world’s best player”.
Salah is fast approaching the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield.

As revealed by Football Insider (29 October) the club’s owners want a new deal in place before the January transfer window opens next month.
The latest a Liverpool source is that talks are ongoing, with Salah and his representatives holding out for a deal worth £500,000-a-week.
That is equivalent to an astonishing £117million across four-and-a-half years, which is the length of the deal the goal machine wants.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Salah’s comments, Robinson said: “You can read between the lines.
“He is the world’s best player at the moment. To replace him is impossible so he is in the driving seat.
“I cannot see where he could go though. Not many teams can pay that kind of money for him.
“Liverpool would have to pay ten-fold to replace him. You can see how important he is to that team. His goals and assists are off the charts this season.
“Liverpool simply have to break the bank to get him tied down. It is a case of giving him what he wants. Whatever he wants he deserves. If he’s the highest paid football in England, he deserves it, because he is the best.”

As quoted by the Daily Mail (6 December), Salah told Egyptian TV it is up to the management to “solve the issue”.
He added how the financial package a club is willing to offer “shows how much they appreciate you”.
