Pundit suggests Man City ‘dressing room fallout’ after Joao Cancelo update
Alan Hutton has suggested Joao Cancelo may have had a “fallout” at Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Cancelo knows he’ll be returning to the Etihad at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old joined Bayern Munich on a loan deal until the end of the season in January.
As quoted by talkSPORT (25 February), the defender said he remains open to returning to the Etihad once his loan expires.
Bayern do have the option to turn the temporary deal into a permanent switch for £62.8million at the end of the season.
The Portugal international said “everything in life has an end” but said he “might return”.
When asked if the right-back will be welcomed back to the Etihad, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think they will have to welcome him back, he is still a Manchester City player.
“He is only out on loan until the end of the season so he is going to come back. Obviously listening to how he was speaking when he did go to Bayern Munich, he was not really giving anything away.
“He was not saying he was upset because ultimately he knows he is coming back to Man City. So he can’t say anything.

“Whether his time is done, I do not know. Did something happen in the background? Was there a fallout? We are never really going to know until he leaves.
“I think he will come back for pre-season and then we will have to wait and see how it moves forward.“
