Pundit suggests real reason for Celtic injustice as unseen Kyogo Furuhashi footage emerges on Twitter

Alan Hutton has suggested Celtic may have been unlucky not to receive an indirect free kick after a foul Ross County goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw on Saturday (12 November).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender said that something may have made the County goalkeeper unsure if he was to play on.

Footage of the incident that was not shown on BBC’s Sportscene was shared to Twitter and showed Laidlaw placing the ball down before kicking it and picking it back up.

Referee David Munro then gave a free kick against Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Staggies were also awarded a controversial penalty in the second half for a handball against Matt O’Riley which put the away side in front.

The Hoops went on to win the game 2-1.

Hutton suggested there may have been a number of reasons for Laidlaw’s decision but it should have been a foul.

Unless he is trying to say that he maybe did not hear the whistle or something happened where he was not sure if he was to play on,” he told Football Insider.

Only he will know what he was thinking at this moment in time. If he puts the ball down on the floor ready to go, plays the ball but then stops and picks it up again, then of course it is a foul.

But maybe he thought the ref told him to retake it or put the ball in a different position. It just really depends on all those circumstances.
