Pundit suggests real reason for Richarlison snub amid Tottenham latest

Frank McAvennie has claimed Richarlison has so far been snubbed from the Tottenham starting XI because he cannot match Son Heung-min’s understanding with Harry Kane.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the new signing is a “great talent” all the same.

Richarlison, 25, was on the bench for Spurs’ 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday (28 August).

The Brazil international was subbed on in place of Son for the final 15 minutes of the match, providing the assist for Kane’s second goal.

Son has started all of the Lilywhites’ Premier League games this season.

As revealed by WhoScored (27 August), the South Korea international has provided one assist in the time.

Richarlison has made three substitute appearances for Antonio Conte’s side and also provided one assist.

When asked if Richarlison could replace Son in the starting lineup for the game against West Ham on Wednesday (31 August), McAvennie told Football Insider: “He’s a talent Son.

I’m not sure if he’s not done anything, he might not have scored a goal but I think he’s more than that, just scoring goals.

Kane’s the same. They’ve got a great understanding. Can Richarlison come in and do the same with Kane? I don’t know if he could. I don’t know if he’s the same kind of player as Son.

He’s a great talent Richarlison. When you’re playing against people in training, that’s what it’s all about and Conte will be able to see that as well.
