Pundit ‘sure’ Nathan Ake moving from Man City amid Newcastle United reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor is “sure” Nathan Ake will quit Man City this summer and there will be plenty of clubs interested in his signature.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer admitted Ake will not want to leave but will accept it is the only way he will get regular game time.

A City source told Football Insider earlier this week (4 July) that they will sell the 27-year-old is free to find a new club if they receive an appropriate offer and they can source a replacement.

He has three years left on his current contract and is understood to be a target of both Newcastle United and his former club Chelsea.

“I don’t think he will want to leave, I don’t think anybody wants to leave Man City,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But sometimes you’ve got to look at it, even like Raheem Sterling, you think ‘I want to play more, I don’t want to be rotated’.

“Nathan Ake, is he good enough to be a starter for Man City? I don’t think so. I think he’s probably a level down from Man City but he’s still a top Premier League player.

“You’ve got Diaz in front of you, Laporte and Stones, do you want to be fourth choice playing a handful of games a season? I don’t think so.

“I’m sure Nathan Ake will leave and I’m sure there will be a lot of takers.”

Ake has played 40 times for Man City since his £40million move from Bournemouth in the summer of 2020.
