Pundit tells Liverpool to forget Bowen and sign ‘one of the best I’ve seen’ – scouts watch every game he plays

Raphinha is a cut above Jarrod Bowen and would be a better option for Liverpool next summer, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Leeds and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said Raphinha, 25, is “one of the best players” he has seen at Elland Road.

According to the Liverpool Echo‘s Paul Gorst (9 December), the Reds will be in the market for a wide-forward next summer.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider they are monitoring every match Raphinha plays as well as West Ham’s Bowen.

Robinson suggested Raphinha would be the more expensive of the two.

“Raphinha would be the better option for Liverpool,” he told Football Insider. “He’s the one.

“He would fit straight into that front three.

“Bowen would give them a bit more defensive quality but that’s not to say Raphinha is afraid to do the work. I think Bowen is better suited to the system West Ham player under David Moyes.

“Bowen is talented but Raphinha is one of the best players I have seen at Elland Road.

“The likes of [Sadio] Mane and [Diogo] Jota are top level players. But I don’t think Raphinha is far off that.

“It will not be an easy deal to do though. It would cost Liverpool a lot. It would be an expensive one.”

Raphinha’s deal at Elland Road expires in the summer of 2024.

Whereas Bowen is under contract at the London Stadium until June 2025.
