Pundit: This is real reason Conte wants Ndombele out of Tottenham after source’s update

Tanguy Ndombele’s “inconsistency and attitude” will be the main reasons Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has sanctioned the Frenchman’s departure in January, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, raised questions about the 24-year-old’s character as he struggles to make an impression under yet another manager.

This site revealed last week (8 December) that Juventus are interested in signing Ndombele in January.

A Tottenham source told Football Insider that Conte has made it clear to the club hierarchy that they should be receptive to offers.

Whelan insisted a potential sale could give Spurs an opportunity to get the “right characters” through the door.

He hasn’t been a favourite for any of the managers he’s played under at Tottenham,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“It says something about his character, not his ability – because we’ve seen it in glimpses.

“His inconsistency and attitude will have been the main driving force in Conte’s decision to get rid.

“He seems to be a problem for most managers in the dressing room – and you have to get those kinds of players out of your club.

“If they can move him on and get some money for him then they can start again – and this time bring in the right characters. That can be more important than talent at times.”

Football Insider also revealed last Monday (6 December) that there could be as many as 10 transfer deals at Tottenham this January.

Conte is planning to revamp his Spurs side – with the north London side just three points adrift of the top four.
