Pundit: Thomas Tuchel is facing more ‘trouble’ after Chelsea flashpoint

Thomas Tuchel is facing further punishment for his comments after Chelsea drew 2-2 with Tottenham.

That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Chelsea man’s comments.

Chelsea drew 2-2 with Tottenham in a feisty encounter on Sunday (14 August).

Tuchel and Antonio Conte clashed on several occasions as the Chelsea man was left raging by Anthony Taylor’s decisions.

As quoted by the Guardian after the game, Tuchel suggested that Taylor should not referee his side anymore.

The Athletic reported on Monday (15 August) that his comments are now being investigated by the FA.

“I have done that before as well,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“I preempted something before one of the games about a referee who usually did our games. The FA saw the comments and I got a warning.

“I thought, right, I can’t say anything before the games in case it becomes an influence on the referees one way or another.

“You can get them going totally against you and you can also get them thinking they will have a really good game and be very fair to both sides.

“You just can’t say things like that. You have to behave during the match when the emotions are sky high.

“In those situations, it is sometimes hard to control yourself. You will get in trouble for saying things like that.”
