Pundit tips Celtic to sign ‘big name’ to ‘counteract’ Rangers signing Lundstram
Noel Whelan has claimed Celtic could “counteract” Rangers signing John Lundstram by recruiting Ben Davies from Liverpool.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Hoops are expected to bring some “big names” to Parkhead this summer.
The Daily Mail report (July 8th) Celtic have reignited their pursuit of Davies, 25, after being gazumped by Liverpool in the January transfer window.

It is said the Hoops, who had bid £2million for the former Preston man, are looking to take him on a season-long loan.
Hutton insisted Celtic’s recruitment needs to rival that of Rangers this summer.
He suggested Davies could be as impressive an addition as Lundstram at Ibrox.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “When you look across the way and see Rangers bringing in Lundstram, you’ve got to counteract that.
“You’ve got to bring some big players into the club, some experienced players into the club. Players that are going to improve.
“Celtic fans will expect some big names coming through the door as well after last season. More competition in that Celtic dressing room, absolutely no shadow of a doubt.
“If you can get someone like Ben Davies there, it would be better for the club, and the player. He’s not going to be required at Liverpool and he’s better off going out there.

“He’s going to be challenging, he’s going to be competitive in that Scottish Premiership. There’s also the Champions League as well, let’s not forget.
“When Celtic look across the way and see the business Rangers are doing, they’ve got to counteract that and very quickly.”
