Pundit tips Leeds to ‘rocket up the table’ after ‘amazing’ Bamford development – pundit

Leeds are going to “rocket up the table” when Patrick Bamford returns to full fitness.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to a positive update on the Whites man’s fitness.

Bamford took a major step in his recovery from his ankle injury on Monday (29 November), playing the full 90 minutes for the under-23s against Manchester City.

In his absence, Bielsa has played Rodrigo Moreno, Tyler Roberts, Jack Harrison and Dan James in the centre-forward role.

McAvennie claims Bamford’s return will be transformative for the Whites.

“All Leeds are missing is someone who can put the ball in the back of the net,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Bamford can certainly do that. They were free-scoring last year and without Bamford, that’s changed.

“There are games Bamford has missed that Leeds would have won if he had been there.

“I have every confidence Leeds will rocket up the table once he’s back in the side and scoring goals.

“It’s amazing he is on his way back and his return will give everyone an amazing lift, you can be sure of that.

“The attackers will have the confidence to put the ball in the box, knowing someone is there who can score.

“Bamford will transform them now he’s getting back.”

Leeds United

Bamford only made five league appearances this season, scoring once, before being sidelined.

He scored 17 goals and picked up seven assists in the Premier League last season.
