Pundit verdict on Chelsea agreeing £100m Moises Caicedo fee after source’s reveal

Chelsea won’t pay £100million to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said it would be amazing business for the Seagulls to make such a big profit on Caicedo.

According to The Telegraph (6 July), Roberto de Zerbi’s side are poised to ask for more than £100m for their star midfielder after a benchmark was set with Declan Rice’s £105m move to Arsenal.

But on Thursday (13 July), Football Insider revealed that the Blues are confident of securing an £80m deal for the 21-year-old.

Caicedo has been a long-term target for the London club and is believed to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already spent nearly £107m on the signing of Enzo Fernandez in the January window.

When asked if the club will be willing to spend over £100m on another player, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it is a lot of money.

I think he is a great player who had an outstanding season.

£100m seems to be the talking figure for top end footballers in the Premier League.

Chelsea

Of course he is going to go to a good football team but Brighton are the ones coming off the best in this, their recruitment has been outstanding so if they were able to make £100m on Caicedo, it is an amazing bit of business.

I think he makes Chelsea better but I would be surprised if it is £100m.
