Pundit ‘worried’ for David Moyes after West Ham source’s David Sullivan update

Tam McManus is worried David Moyes will be sacked if West Ham restart their season in poor form.

The former Hibernian striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Moyes is not to blame for the Hammers’ poor form.

Sources told Football Insider on 6 December that there is tension between Moyes and David Sullivan over transfers and that has led to new question marks internally over the manager’s job.

After back-to-back seasons finishing in the European places, the Irons have struggled this term and finished the first part of the season down in 16th place, just a point above the relegation zone.

The club is also going through a defensive injury crisis with Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma sidelined.

McManus is worried Moyes may be blamed if the Hammers don’t improve in the second half of the season.

“They barely have a defence,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“That’s not Moyes’ fault. One of the players he signed in the summer has played one game and after getting fit for the World Cup he’s injured again.

“Zouma is out as well so there goes your first-choice defensive partnership. If West Ham don’t restart well, concede a lot of goals and don’t win, it will be Moyes who is blamed and sacked.

“That shouldn’t be the case. There are reasons this is happening and they are out of his control. That’s my worry.

“David has done an amazing job there and he deserves far more time than I think he will get.

I hope the players who are standing in are up to it.”
