Pundit ‘wowed’ by Man United takeover update amid ‘£5bn’ claim
Man United could cost as much as £5billion to anyone interested in purchasing it from the Glazer family.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a potential change of ownership at Old Trafford.
There is fresh unrest at Man United amid the club’s worst start to the season in 100 years.
Protests are planned for the Red Devils’ next game against Liverpool (22 August) and there are fresh questions being asked of the ownership.
On Thursday (18 August) Sky Sports reported the UK’s richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is serious about purchasing a stake in the club.
Kenny insists Ratcliffe could have to shell out £5billion to buy the club outright.
“It’s a tough one,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“If this Jim Ratcliffe comes in, what a bloke to take over. UK’s richest man, wow. He is not short of a bob or two.
“It won’t be cheap though. How much did Chelsea go for? Around £3billion. So you are looking at £4billion or £5billion for Man United.
“You are talking a lot of money. It depends whether the Glazers want to sell. If they can live with the stick they are taking now, as has happened in the past, then Ratcliffe’s potential bid is irrelevant.
“It doesn’t matter if they won’t consider a sale. The Man United fans want it and I’m sure they will make that clear to the owners over the next few weeks.
“It’s one to keep an eye on, this one.”

Man United remain bottom of the Premier League.
They are next in action against Liverpool on Monday (22 August) night.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Man United could be sold for an “amazing premium” after a Michael Knighton reveal.
