‘QPR want Darnell Furlong from West Brom ahead of transfer window’
QPR have West Brom defender Darnell Furlong on their list of targets with the club set for a summer revamp.
Tony Mowbray was appointed as West Brom manager following Carlos Corberan’s departure to Valencia and almost managed to guide his team to the playoffs in his second spell in charge.
However it wasn’t to be, with the Baggies narrowly missing out after winning only one of their last five games in the Championship, including a controversial 2-1 loss to Bristol City.
Mowbray has since left the Hawthorns, and with his departure may signal the start of an exodus from the club, with Furlong identified as a target for league rivals QPR.

Darnell Furlong on QPR’s list of targets
Furlong joined the Baggies in 2019 from Loftus Road, having come through the youth system in West London, and has gone on to make 243 appearances for the Midlands side, scoring 11 goals and assisting 12 more.
Having enjoyed a strong season at the Hawthorns, appearing 41 times in the league under Corberan the recently-departed Mowbray, he could now be on the move.
West Brom have narrowly missed out on qualifying for the playoffs, and the right-back may become available as they look to strengthen in the summer for another promotion push next year.
According to journalist Darren Witcoop, QPR have Furlong on their list of targets as they search for outbound Jimmy Dunne’s replacement.
West Brom look to replace Tony Mowbray with QPR’s Marti Cifuentes
Football Insider Verdict
According to talkSPORT, Marti Cifuentes has fallen out with the QPR board and is now looking to leave the club.
The Spaniard is now in negotiations with West Brom with a view to becoming Mowbray’s successor at the Hawthorns.
Cifuentes’ representatives have held talks with the Baggies, with the Spaniard having kept QPR safe from relegation in his two seasons at the club.
The ex-Hammarby boss took over from Gareth Ainsworth in 2023 but now looks set for a move to the Midlands.
The Spaniard would bring with him a fast attacking approach, with his side having scored 1.2 goals per game, but there are questions surrounding his defensive coaching, with his side conceding 1.4 goals per game.
